The Lancaster New Era ran an article on January 6th about a proposed rental property ordinance the Lancaster City Council is considering.
This ordinance will go before City Council members later this month. The ordinance establishes a three-strikes-and-you're-out policy requiring landlords to evict tenants after three disruptive incidents within a year. Failure to do so could result in a $500 per month fine, 90 days in jail or both.
City officials have been working on this ordinance for more than a year and a first reading will take place on January 27th. Council will then have the opportunity to vote on the proposal on February 10th.
